I've looked at the article in the handbook and have been unsuccessfull in locating the 13055 device. I'd like to hear from anyone who has built it or something functionaly like it. I vote *YES* keep up the *technical* dialogue. Definitely, let's keep up this technical dialogue. Has anyone else noticed that KA9Q beats the pants off commercial routers, e.g. the Livingston PortMaster? Damn thing won't let me set up a static route to a network. If I'd only run with my intuition and gotten a sync card with a packet driver, I'd have gotten the routing job done at half the cost AND half the time AND half the exasperation. -russ http://www.crynwr.com/crynwr/nelson.html Crynwr Software | Crynwr Software sells packet driver support | ask4 PGP key 11 Grant St. | +1 315 268 1925 (9201 FAX) | What is thee doing about it? It's a _really_smart_ TNC. Simultaneous dual-port operation along with port-to-port gateway, multi-connect BBS, KA-NODE (a less than full-featured NetROM implementation), online help, etc. It's super low-power - the software even lets you turn off the front panel lights to save power. It knows about multi-drop KISS, or you can switch either port to be "kiss port 0" and run single-drop KISS on that port. The 9600 port knows how to connect to an external modem at 19,200 baud, like the ones built into the Kantronics Data Radio. The only thing I don't like is that the host baud rate is limited to 19,200. At $200, I don't see why you'd buy any other 9600 TNC. None of the others will run both ports simultaneously. I think that these TNCs would make inexpensive remote relays. $200 for the TNC, $90 for a TEKK radio, say $200-$300 more for enclosure, antenna, solar panel, battery. The whole thing could go in a small box atop a phone pole. If they made one with two 9600 ports, it would be even better for remote relay stations. Too bad it doesn't know how to gateway IP - you'd have to digipeat or use KA-NODE. Unfortunately, at the moment the nearest 9600 operator and I can't hear each other. I'm working on that. To: tcp-group@ucsd.edu I'm just starting to use JNOS 1.10e. I can't seem to get my pk232 MBX into KISS mode and set the speed to 9600 from the autoexec.nos file. Here's what I've tried based on other's suggestions: attach asy 0x3e8 5 ax25 ax3 2048 236 9600 param ax3 rts 1 param ax3 dtr 1 comm ax3 "FRack 4" comm ax3 "HBaud 9600" comm ax3 "KISS on" comm ax3 "Restart" JNOS works well otherwise when I put the Pk232 into KISS via a windows program pc-packratt and then exit to JNOS. Any ideas or suggestions? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Aug 1994 10:18:15 -0400 (EDT) From: Steve Houchins Subject: vote To: tcp-group@ucsd.edu Here is my VOTE.
